About
MY BACKGROUND
I am an award-winning Sociology researcher and educator. Holding a BA and MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and a PhD from the University of Manchester, I have over half a decade's experience in high quality teaching in research in Sociology, Criminology and Business Management. My research interests are gender and sexuality (especially masculinities studies), social movement research (especially radical left wing and trade union movements), emotions and affect, sex work, safe spaces policies, and the study of social harm and zemiology.
I also do stand up comedy and write plays, but that's all at the end of the page.

Stand Up Comedian
I have done stand-up for thirteen years, performing political, surrealist and sociological comedy around the UK, and in Norway, once. I'd like to go back but I don't think they can a-fjord my fee.
Over the years I've had the pleasure of performing alongside, or, occasionally in the general proximity of Nish Kumar, Sara Pascoe, Kate Smurthwaite, Phil Jupitus, and Andrew O Neil, among other people who are funnier on social media because they use social media.
I also write comedy, and my first radio play, "The Adventures of Dick Cutter, Private Detective" - a story of crime, time travel, and increasingly tedious innuendo, is available on Spotify, courtesy of FuseFM.
